For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb.
God’s plans have no boundaries, it’s beautiful to see how God uses different kinds of people of different nationalities to accomplish His purposes.
Right now I’m in San Juan La Laguna, located in one of the most beautiful lakes in the world, Atitlán Lake. If you are close this area you can come visit the Casa Materna and be part of this great project.
A lot of things have happened these past two month, on my first trip in July I came to help Anna on this project, we were fixing cribs, putting together cabinets and updating the inventory.
Praise God, I had the opportunity to come back this month of August, we had a great time with Dr. Erika Close, she visited us from Quebec Canada. She taught a class to local midwife students about helping babies breathe upon being born, and believe me it was something new and unexpected! LOL
The Casa Materna is a birthing & prenatal care center with a focus on reducing infant and maternal mortality and educating midwives and other healthcare providers in this field.
If you interested in partnering with us, you’re welcome to contact me directly or follow Casa Materna.
We want to thank Dr. Erica McElroy for taking the first steps in making this project a reality. She is from Danville Pennsylvania, and her local church and other partners are supporting the Casa Materna.
Have you heard about Saving Mothers Guatemala? They are an organization based in Santiago Atitlán. Dr. Jessica Oliveira is a huge asset, helping midwives and birthing assistants. Casa Materna & Saving Mothers have partnered together to help this region in Guatemala.
We have made some important improvements to la Casa, like changing their regular bulbs to the newest LED bulbs reducing 90% of energy consumption, and putting new hand-made curtains.
Thank you for your prayers and support! Any help is welcome!
